Mono Blue Devotion

Finally, I 'll write about Mono Blue.
I have posted articles about Mono Black and Mono Red. For people who want to know what cards I will buy and sell in the coming month, here is an ever-updating page: Cards to collect and sell.

I found some cards going well with Blue devotion:
Mindreaver (UU)
I expect another UU card in Dragons of Tarkir will fill the slot.

Encrust (1UU)
It doesn't tap the creature but I like the UU mana cost.

Cloudform (1UU)
A hexproof flyer.

Bident of Thassa (2UU)
Jace, the Living Guildpact (2UU)

What we don't have at this moment: Early damage cards.
This is a problem backfiring all plans for Devotion, except the green one. Last year,  Mono black devotion was equipped with Pack Rat and Desecration Demon, both are finishers; while Mono Blue always dropped Cloudfin Raptor turn 1 to start beating. They have nothing comparable in this Standard. The hope is on Dragons and Magic Origins.

After reading the full list of Dragons on 14th March, I sold all my Master of Waves and we will keep seeking new ideas for deck building. Sorry, mono blue control.

Things get better on Mono Blue now! Please read my new post with Collected Company here.

The list:
Master of Waves 4
Shorecrasher Elemental 4
Thassa, God of the Sea 4
Triton Shorestalker / Gudul Lurker 4
Hypnotic Siren 4
Mindreaver / Chasm Skulker/ Stratus Dancer 4

Cloudform 4
Hall of Triumph 2
Bident of Thassa 2
Collected Company  4

11 Islands
4 Temple of Mystery
4 Mana Confluence
4 Yavimaya Coast

Test Result:
Blue is much slower than Green Red aggros or Red Decks now. I think with currently small drops it's hard for Mono Blue Devotion to come back as top deck.

GWx Starfield of Nyx Deck

People say Magic Origins is a down-graded set. To me, It feels more like Ice Age then Khans in the variety of card functions and types. Of course, Ice Age was a fun deck, weakness never harms the entertaining level of cards. Starfield of Nyx  is an interesting one. It goes perfectly into enchantment decks evolved during late Theros Standard. Win conditions: 1. Bring Chromanticore into play from grave. 2. Attack with animated enchatments for winning. 3. Bring Whip of Erebos into play and reanimate Hornet Queen. 4. Bring Sigil of the Empty Throne into play 5. Assault Formation + high toughness creatures Removals: End Hostility Banishing Light     Doomwake Giant Defense: Nyx-Fleece Ram Courser of Kruphix Card Advantages: Ephara, God of the Polis Commune with the Gods Satyr Wayfinder Eidolon of Blossoms Gather the Pack Combos: Starfield of Nyx  + everything /  Font of Vigor Ephara, God...

Magic Origins preview

1. Avarcious Dragon With four mana 4/4 flying - the new standard for usable dragons - Avaricious Dragon give you one more card per turn but force you to discard you hand at the end of turn. It's actually a walking  Grafted Skullcap. What is Grafted Skullcap? you've never heard of it? Right, that's because it's never been used in serious decks since it first appeared in Urza's Saga set 17 years ago. I don't think this dragon will not be more active than Thunderbreak Regent in competitive decks after rotation. Look at the visage of the guy wearing it. Still, I made a deck around it: GR reanimates Creatures: 4 Deathmist Raptor 4 Den Protector 4 Flamewake Phoenix 4 Ashcloud Phoenix 4 Avaricious Dragon  Others: whatever you want (I am not quite in the mode right now) Some lands 2. Starfield of Nyx At the beginning of your upkeep, you may return target enchantment card from your  graveyard to the battlefield. As long as you contr...
