1 Tix Challenge: Mono Green Ramp

Who still thinks MTGO is an expensive hobby? Try out my first deck for 1 Tix Challenge: UG Madness. Tonight, I started to build decks with Vintage Masters cards for new players. With the 5 tix in their new accounts, now they can try at least 5 different decks representing certain milestones in the history of MTG. This green ramp deck I built was a deck storming the meta during the period from Marcadian Masques to Invasion. Although in this simplified version I didn't add Rishadan Port and Plow Under, I found the deck perform quite well against other casual decks:

Rofellos, Masticore and Cursed Scroll are respectively 0.06, 0.03 and 0.05. They make up 0.53 tix of the total cost. Saproling, Deranged Druid and Yavimaya Hollow are all under 0.04, so they are roughly 0.28 tix. The rest cards cost around 0.01 each. You can definitely bring home a competitive Green deck for 1 tix.

What is Magic Origins about?

If I am right, Magic Origins is a collection of "redesigned" old cards in MTG history. Evidence so far supports the prediction. We have: Dark Petition reminiscing Demonic Tutor, Day's Undoing replacing Timetwister, Honored Hierarch taking after Noble Hierarch. I believe more cards from Power Nine and old sets will appear in Standard but with lowered power level. Let's make some wild guess before the spoiler's out: 1. All ten Shock lands return ( Dual lands ) update: painlands, not shocklands 2. There are remakes for Armageddon, Nevinyrral's Disk and Wrath of God update: they remade Cataclysm. 3. Moxes will appear with 1 mana cost and "enter the battlefield tapped" 4. Something close to Force of Will is in the set

GWx Starfield of Nyx Deck

People say Magic Origins is a down-graded set. To me, It feels more like Ice Age then Khans in the variety of card functions and types. Of course, Ice Age was a fun deck, weakness never harms the entertaining level of cards. Starfield of Nyx  is an interesting one. It goes perfectly into enchantment decks evolved during late Theros Standard. Win conditions: 1. Bring Chromanticore into play from grave. 2. Attack with animated enchatments for winning. 3. Bring Whip of Erebos into play and reanimate Hornet Queen. 4. Bring Sigil of the Empty Throne into play 5. Assault Formation + high toughness creatures Removals: End Hostility Banishing Light     Doomwake Giant Defense: Nyx-Fleece Ram Courser of Kruphix Card Advantages: Ephara, God of the Polis Commune with the Gods Satyr Wayfinder Eidolon of Blossoms Gather the Pack Combos: Starfield of Nyx  + everything /  Font of Vigor Ephara, God...

The Return of Black Devotion

Many things happened this week. Tempest Remastered is announced; Nothing can I trust in old cards anymore. Rebound is confirmed as a mechanism in Dragons of Tarkir; I started to collect Monastery Mentor. I am also busy drafting Fate Khans Khans, during which I found a possible card for Black devotion: Ancestral Vengeance. In a draft, I didn't read clearly the text and put it on one of my creatures, without a choice, I put the +1/+1 on it too. I thought it add -1/-1 counter on another creature and make its target +1/+1. Whatever it does, I can put it on a creature for devotion.  The spoiled cards like Risen Executioner and Sidisi, Undead Vizier have given me some ideas of what a black devotion deck is like.    The deck may be like this one: Risen Executioner 4 Gray Merchant of Asphodel 4 a three drop zombie 4 Hero's Downfall 4 Ancestral Vengeance 4 Other removals 4-6 Palace Siege 2-4 Whip of Erebos 2 Thoughseize 4 a card drawin...
