The new standard presents an old theme: Creatures vs Removals.
Removals:
Without four mana white mass removals, I think UW Control is hard. There can be a control very likely in UB.
Though in sorcery, they provide card advantage.
Fortune's Favor(Fact of Fiction)
Curious Honuculus (Nightscape Familiar)
Drag Under(Repulse)
Unsubstantiate(Memory Lapse)
Take Inventory(Accumulated Knowledge)
Crush of Tentacles(Upheaval)
It seems they are reprinting into sorceries the whole Psychatog deck from the 2000's without Psychatog. I remember before Psychatog deck became mainstream, there was a Nether Spirit deck.
The deck used a 2/2 Nether Spirit that returns back to the battlefield every upkeep to win, yes, it's that boring. Never heard of it, young guys?
Today we can't expect a 2/2 to attack for 10 times, neither can we wait for a Psychatog functional reprint. I think maybe the outcome of printing all the blue sorceries is a UB control deck with 1-2 finisher or a UR Eldrazi deck using Kozilek's Return and Chandra, Flamecaller to race with creature decks.
UR control:
Draws:
Take Inventory 4
Jace, Unraveler of Secrets 2
Fortune's Favor 2
Burns:
Kozilek's Return 4
Chandra, Flamecaller 2
Incendiary Flow 4
Counters:
Convolute 4
Clash of Wills 4
Creatures:
Drowner of Hope 4
ELder Deep-Fiend 2
Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger 2
Lands:
Highland Lake 4
Island 4
Mage-Ring Network 4 Shivan Reef 4 Shrine of the Forsaken Gods 4 Spawning Bed 2 Wandering Fumarole 4
UB Control:
Draws:
Take Inventory 4
Jace, Unraveler of Secrets 2
Fortune's Favor 4
Removals:
Languish 4
Ultimate Price 4
Ruinous Path 3
Liliana, the Last Hope 3
Creatures:
Curious Honuculus 4
Jace, Vryn's Prodigy 3
Emrakul, the Promised End 1
Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet 2
Through my testing with UR mill, I found Engulf the Shore quite powerful against aggros.
