Long time since my last article. I am living like a lazy slug feeding on coke and chips. Hope things get some change toward the better side. Ok, let's get back to deck building.
I am building a deck around Evolutionary Leap.
The card turned out to be a fool's gold in current standard. Luckly, I didn't lose money on it - it fell from around 3 tix to 0.2! The deck is inspired by a writer on TCG player that stated the interaction of the card with Hangarback Walker. Tokens get along with this card well.
Good token cards in Standard are:
Hangarback Walker
Brimaz, King of Oreskos
Chasm Skulker
Goblin Rabblemaster
Pia and Kiran Nalaar
Hooded Hydra
Whisperwood Elemental
Xenagos, the Reveler
Sidisi, Brood Tyrant
Pharika, God of Affliction
We also should consider returning creatures from the graveyard. I think Leap is viable in decks with Rally the Ancestors.
One more option to play with the card is shuffling sacrificed creatures back to your library. I found Learn from the Past and Cranial Archive doing the job.
Besides, Leap can activate Liliana, Heretical Healer.
The first deck I built around it is GR Monsters.
I took out 2 Nissa, Vastwood Seer for Leap and 1 Genesis Hydra for a Hooded Hydra:
Sorry for the amateurous list style. (A nice person from MTGOLDFISH has given me a tool to post deck list but I lost it......)
In casual formats, we can have much more cards to play with Leap.
Here are some ideas:
1. Gain control of opponent's creatures then sacrifice them to Leap
Overtaker
Preacher
Helm of Possession
2. Sacrifice creatures doing something good they die.
Loyal Retaineer
Deranged Hermit
Doomed Traveller
Hoarding Dragon
3. Surprise your opponent by playing it with "Flash" creatures
Mystic Snake
Venser, Shaper Savant
