URG Prowess (Post SOI)

G(R) Ramp will probably dominate for a while in the meta post rotation. I will write about it later. This deck is about something I personally like - I have been playing UR decks since almost 20 years ago. I think the early stage of standard will be full of Vampire/ Zombie aggro decks. Maybe we need the World Breaker + Kozilek's Return package in this aggro deck. The goal of the deck is getting card drawing advantage through Abbot of Keral Keep and Sin Prodder, then recast the burn spells with Jace, Goblin Dark-Dwellers and World Breakers. 18 Creatures: Stormchaser Mage 4 Thing in the Ice 4 Jace, Vryn's Prodigy 4 / Abbot of Keral Keep 4 Sin Prodder 4 World Breaker 2 /  Goblin Dark-Dwellers 2 12 Burn Spells: Fiery Impulse  3 Exquisite Firecraft 2 Fiery Temper  3 / Geistblast 3 Kozilek's Return 4 6 Other Spells: The selection of these 6 cards distinguishes top players from the crowd. What's your options? I have thought about:...

Shadows over Innistrad: What are the best cards?

In a storm of bustle work, I still squeeze out time to write this review. This is just one of the proves of how much I love this game. 1. Consisting the world of competitive MTG decks: I never overlook the potential of cards that search for something. This one is great because Delirium in GR ramp is not really hard to achieve: we have nearly all card types - Evolving Wilds(land), Hangarback Walker(artifact and creature), Chandra, Flamecaller(Planeswalker), Ramp spells(Sorcery), Kozilek's Return(Instant).  It's good but limited to decks with a significant number of creatures. That means UW control won't use it.  If you have 4 mana, you may like a Utter End rather than this. But the cost of 3 life will be trivial if the meta speeds up so much that you aren't given the time to gather 4 mana and make a timely response to opponent's cards. In some extreme cases, a player never get 4 mana during the whole game.  Green and Red are strong colors in the new ...

What I collect for Eternal Masters

Things you need to know before reading: 1. I expect MTGO will hold one Vintage Masters and one Urza's Block flashback drafts in the next 4 months. 2. Reprints, Promos, special sets are meteors falling right into your wallet - it burns money and you can't avoid. Any card you buy today can be reprinted. 3. Do a diversified investment. Don't put all tix on one or a few cards. My list: Urza's Block: Gaea's Cradle Serra's Sanctum Time Spiral Metalworker Vintage Masters: Lion's Eye Diamond Dual lands Older Blocks: The Tabernacle at Pendrell Vale Undiscovered Paradise FireStorm Helm of Obedience Moat Candelabra of Tawnos Transmute Artifact Aluren Dream Halls Don't buy cards that are too high. Buy less cards from Vintage Masters and Urza's Block.

MTGO's actions on Eternal Masters leaks

I don't have insider's leak sources. All I wrote here were sheer predictions based on my experience. Wizards's responses to these leaks on MTGO could be: 1. Holding Urza's flasback drafts for 1 month. 2. Holding Vintage Masters drafts for 1 month. On paper, it's harder to deal with the effects brought by vendor speculations. I only do MTGO at the moment, so it's not a problem bordering me. What will I buy from now til Eternal Masters releases? Read here .

Buying Oath of the Gatwatch

Be patient! I am asking both the readers and the writer of this article. All of you have great thoughts, but wait and wait until they are at the right prices to buy. The time is not now. 1. Thought-Knot Seer Widely used in Modern, I can be in Legacy and Standard. In the event of Modern decks adjust to resist Eldrazi aggro or Wizards ban Chalice, whichever happens, a chance to buy Thought-Knot Seer happens. 2. Kozilek's Return It's used in GR Ramp decks in both Modern and Standard. It's a Mythic rare that has a potential to rise more then Though-Knot Seer. 3. Sylvan Advocate I already see it in Abzan decks, Bant Aggro decks and some Ramp decks. It indicates that Sylvan is usable in both Control and Aggro decks. It 's a good sign. Most cards in Abzan rotate out with KTK, but Bant remains. If Shadows over Innistrad doesn't introduce something game changing, I think Sylvan will be more popular. 4. World Breaker It's the best card to activate Kozilek...

U based Eldrazi

I read an article today on a control based Ramp deck. It's attempting to fight against fast Aggros today with control cards: counterspells, mass removals, draw spells. Then a card immediately showed up on my mind: Mage-Ring Network. Though not exactly a ramp card, it helps to cast Ugin, Kozilek and Ulamog. Let's borrow a Esper Dragon shell from Mtggoldfish: 4 Jace, Vryn's Prodigy 296.72 4 Dragonlord Ojutai   2  Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger  1  Kozilek, the Great Distortion 46.52 1 Dragonlord Silumgar   2 Sphinx of the Final Word 2.89 1 Silumgar, the Drifting Death 0.01 Spells (24) 2 Horribly Awry 0.02 4 Silumgar's Scorn   4 Duress 0.04 2 Complete Disregard   0.02 3 Foul-Tongue Invocation     3 Warping Wail 0.06 2 Scatter to the Winds 0.12 1 Languish 1.28 2 Ojutai's Command 0.04 1 Utter End 0.22 2 Crux of Fate 0.20 4 Dig Through Time 1.52 1 Ugin, the Spirit Dragon   2 Ugin 11.18 Lands (26) 1 Bloodstained Mire 9.6...
